Owen MarcusAs one of the co-founders of the Sandpoint Men's Group, being a part of the Men's Group and the Sandpoint community is an honor for me. The Men's Group forms the core of my enjoyment of the natural world, and my appreciation of the enchanting community of Sandpoint. I was born and raised in Vermont, but I headed out West as a young man. In the mid-1970s, I began practicing bodywork and Rolfing in Boulder, CO. Then I moved to start a clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, where I stayed for close to 20 years. While in Scottsdale, I used to envision living in a rural community with others who appreciated nature's beauty. And I wanted a mellower lifestyle. So I came to Sandpoint in 1997, and formed the Men's Group in 2004. I continue practicing Rolfing here in Sandpoint, as I pursue other avenues of promoting holistic wellness. I've studied Shamanism for over 25 years, and I've learned how to use it to enhance the body work I do. I'm a single guy--never been married, no kids yet--and I enjoy all that Sandpoint has to offer: art, music, skiing, swimming. I feel very fortunate to live in my paradise. These sites and blogs explain more of what I do –

Michael WelpMichael Welp, Ph.D., is a founding partner of White Men as Full Diversity Partners®, (www.wmfdp.com), a national culture change consulting firm that builds effective partnerships and inspires courageous leaders. In 1996, he joined with his colleague Bill Proudman to pioneer ‘white male only’ 3.5-day learning labs after his dissertation research found that white men look exclusively to white women and men and women of color to educate them about diversity. For ten years white men from across all industries, varying in level from CEO to supervisor, have attended these in-depth learning labs. In 2000, his firm expanded with the addition of colleague Jo Ann Morris (and later Tim McNichol) to offer in-depth learning labs for mixed race and gender groups to build partnership skills together. In 2004 the firm began offering women-only learning labs on building partnership skills. Today the four partners of WMFDP and ten associates offer a full range of consulting services to create organizational cultures of full partnership while simultaneously growing critical leadership skills. Michael is also a co-author of WMFDP’s Field Guide Series- Diversity Partnership Tips for White Men, Diversity Partnership Tips for White Women and People of Color to Engage White Men, and Eight Critical Leadership Skills Developed through Effective Diversity Partnerships. In addition to working with a broad range of industries throughout the U.S., he has facilitated interracial teambuilding for a dozen South African corporations.
